Full Version: Do You Use A Graphic Tablet?

I would like to know if you use graphic tablets. If so I would like to know what brand and type of tablet and what you think of it.

Reason for it is that I'm considering buying a tablet but have no clue what to take. I know Wacom is the market leader in graphic tablets. But I don't see differences between the cheap and the expensive tablets.

If you use a tablet I also would like to know WHERE you use it. Only in Photoshop or all accross your work.

Thanks

Work uses Wacom tablets with its Avids. I tried using it, but coming from a traditional computer background (as opposed to editors coming to NLE from tape) I didn't like it. I use the mouse.

Of course, there's editors here that swear by the thing.

I have a big old Wacom tablet, & I love to use it with Photoshop. It takes some time to adapt to a different way of working, but it makes the work flow in PS so much faster & precise smile.gif . I also used it with AE to animate strokes of paint, handwriting, etc. Even a small cheap one may be good for some things, but there is a huge difference between the quality & versatility you can achieve with a cheap one & a more expensive one. Wacom, chortle. Sounds like what you do to easy pitches in softball. I've got one, use it for PS now and then. Never on PPro, never on AE. It's okay but, honestly, my arm & hand would rather slide a mouse than articulate all those tiny muscles making clickish gestures on some expanse of plastic. Lazy, I guess, or maybe obtuse. Meanwhile, the thing is safe in its box.

I have a hyper pen, but I just can't get to grips with it, my best bit of hardware is my colour coded keyboard

Has anyone compared Wacom tablets with other brands? Aiptek offers several tablets and is way cheaper than Wacom. On the other hand Aiptek seems to be a bit "cheap" (at least their cameras are).
So I wonder if I could go with other brands or have to stick to Wacom to get the best quality...

Long time back I used to use Digitizer tablet from Houston Instrument for AutoCAD drawings. I have never used tablet till now for PS.

I'm sure it will help us to ease things out. Let's see...

Radio Shack usually has one for $50 or $60...don't know how useable they are, but for that price...
Hope that helps...
