You need pull up the timeline and drag the chapter point to the button.

To make a thumbnail (poster frame) different than the frame where the chapter marker is,

1. Select the chapter market with the mouse on the timeline (it will turn red)

2. Scrub with your mouse to the frame on the timeline you want the poster to be and right click. From the pop up menu chose set poster frame.

Now you will have a new poster frame defined for the chapter

I apologize. I have a terrable time explaing things in detail. Please, forgive me?

I have one motion thunbnail on the menu,

I have 12 chapter points

I have 12 buttons

When I mouse over a button, or highlight the button by dvd player remote. I would like for the chapter point to be shown in that one motion thumbnail.

To do this in Encore you will need to do the following:

Create your menu
Make 11 additional copies of your menu
Link 11 of the 12 buttons to their corresponding copy of the Chapter Menu
Depending on which copy of the Menu you are working with route the corresponding button to it's chapter. (Chapter Menu 1, then button one links to chapter 1, Chapter Menu 2 then button two links to chapter 2)

The following may get a bit tricky:

Link 11 of the 12 buttons to point to one of the copies of the menu and set them to "Auto Activate" (remember each menu will have a different button that is NOT set to auto activate)

Chapter Menu 1 would appear as follows

Button 1 - Links to Chapter 1, shows clip from Chapter 1
Button 2 - Links to Chapter Menu 2, when highlighted automaticly routes to Menu 2 which shows the clip from Chapter 2
Button 3 - Links to Chapter Menu 3, when highlighted automaticly routes to Menu 3 which shows the clip from Chapter 3
etc...

Chapter Menu 2 would appear as follows:

Button 1 - Links to Chapter Menu 1, when highlighted automaticly routes to Menu 1 which shows the clip from Chapter 1
Button 2 - Links to Chapter 2, shows clip from Chapter 2
Button 3 - Links to Chapter Menu 3, when highlighted automaticly routes to Menu 3 which shows the clip from Chapter 3
etc..

With "Auto Activate" selected when you highlight a button it will treat the button as though you clicked it.

I hope that sheds some light for you. It's harder to explain than it is to do. Also keep in mind that you shouldn't have a motion background or sound on these "Chapter Menus" since the transition will not be seamless.

I made a still pic tutorial on how to basically accomplish the same thing.

Check out this thread here and look for the links for the demo and the tut.
