Just an FYI for everybody. I was just doing a DVD of some sample AVCHD files. I put them in a PPro project then used dynamic link to Encore. The second time I did this, Encore crashed and took all the project's video files with it.
I mean, completely goners. Nowhere in sight. Every single one in that project.
This takes special talent on the part of the programmers, I must say.
Fortunately, I have a backup and the project was just goofing off but OMG if this had been for my niece's wedding, I'd be extremely pissed.
Be careful out there.

That is why there are back ups but one drawback it overwrites after so many times so I also make a copy and set it to another drive.

Backups are only needed when you haven't made any.
The big problem with the crash is that it deleted video files, not the project files. Project files are easy to back up, especially if you have something like Perforce. Video files, not as easy.
I will be certain to back up the entire directory before I start with Encore when it counts.

Also, the AE feature of increment-and-save for project file names is something that I wish were in every product. I mean, not just CS but MS Office, etc. It is so amazingly useful I can't believe it hasn't been copied by every software company.
But, then again, even Adobe hasn't propogated that feature to all their own products.

All the links were broken or the videofiles have been deleted from the hard disk?

The files were deleted from the HD. I searched everywhere.

That is truly scary Gregory. I've never heard of that happening and how could it happen. So much for "non-destructive" editing.

I have not heard this before. Corrupting project, loosing project OK, but deleting files?
Do you have a back up of the files?
