John,

What camera did you use to shoot this video? Also what compression did you use to post it to vimeo?
Thanks,
Gary

Gary,
I shot this with a Sony HDR-XR520V (AVCHD). I captured to the 16GB memory chip and then used Cineform's utility HDLink to capture and simultaneously convert the 1920x1080 60i video to Cineform's .avi. (1920x1080 p).
I then edited it using PremPro CS3 with a Cineform 1920x1080p preset (titles from Premiere because I got lazy and at the beginning is short clip using Toonit)
I then export - movie- using the Cineform compressor to a 720x480 p PAR 1.2.

Then I reimported the 720x480 .avi PAR 1.2 into a new Premiere Pro project NTSC widescreen (this was interlaced by mistake, but I just noticed that) , and for some reason there were no problems. I then export- adobe media encoder.

I used Format H.264, NTSC, 720x480 Field order None, PAR Widescreen 1.2, Profile - Main, Level 3.1, VBR 2pass, 3 and 6 for target and max bit rates.
I messed up this time by not using square pixels, but I didn't realize it until I went back over it again.

In the past, I've used 1280x720, Progressive, square pixels, Profile Main, Level 4.1 with CBR at 5 (H.264). I got this from "Eugenia's recomendations". It seemed like this jumped when Vimeo played it back as HD so I thought I'd just try widescreen DV.

Did you notice a PAR problem?

You could check what the 1280 method looked like as I used it on the Yosemite video.

Thanks for looking and if you have any advice, I would love to hear it.

John

Thanks John. It looked great. Sounds like a lot of work but the results were very good.
