Hi Everybody!
I am making a dvd in Encore 1. All works well...just fine. My client askes me to fit in another chapter. I squeeze another button onto my menu....the original buttons work fine...all the links work etc....here we go....HOWEVER!
In the preview...and on the finished dvd, the new button has an 'activated area' (outlined in blue when 'show button routing' is shown) that is massive and covers 2 other buttons.....consequently when you click onto the preferred new chapter button the other 2 buttons are highligted as well as the intended one. When 'play' is selected, with all 3 buttons highlighted, the preferred button is actually played.....so you do see the movie in the right order BUT 2 wrong buttons are highlighted but not activated.
The two buttons work properly when clicked on. in the usual manner. How do I reduce the area, as the area has no baring on the size of the actual button which is tucked-away in the bottom right hand corner.
Help Please!!

check your menu using Photoshop, it sounds like you may have a few buttons in the one folder, or it could be that one button folder is encompassing a few other buttons..

check out this tut for a few pointers TUTORIAL

I have never used photoshop for any of my buttons.....just use Encore. I just dropped it into place....so why/how does the area encompass so much area? The button is 2cm square yet the 'area' is the width of the menu window and about 4cm deep!

What version of Encore? If it is earlier than v2, then clicking the button in the Menu Viewer with the Text tool will add a text layer, even if you don't type in any text.

Check your button layer sets for unwanted text layers.

Thanks Jeff, you were not directly right...but it lead me into the right area and now I think that I have conquered it. I had made an individual text box, ouyside the 'blue zone' and that had taken over the whole of the top half of the menu window....Soon be finished...feels like War n Peace, but it is only 35 mins long but took me 5 months to complete!!
Never Mind!! lol
