phansen, or anyone who knows, is there anyway in PI to create a 3d kind of look? I mean like, if I'm doing an outer space shot and I'm using one of the space type emiters and I want the shot to turn around like the camera is following an asteroid or something, is there a way to do this?
phansen
Wow, Alan... I have never tried anything like that... as a matter of fact, I am not quite sure just what you mean. Sorry I can't be of help.
Alan Dubov
Phansen,

What I mean is, if the camera is pointing left and you turn it to the right, objects in the field of view is going to change perspective as they appear to move from one side to the other. If you are filming a car going by, the objects on the other side of the road will change position. It would be the same in outer space. Like in the Star Wars movies: as a spaceship goes by, the camera turns and the stars seem to move to the other side of the field of view. I was asking if there was a way to give it that look in PI.

Alan,

If you are looking to fly through a 3D starfield there ws a plug-in for AE called Particle World. I don't know when it came as part of AE, but I have it in 6.5.

You can make the starfield and then fly the camera through it. If you wish, I could send you a copy of the effect set-up.

There is also a plug-in called Starfield, which you may be able to fly through, but I don't think it's 3D.

I've heard of, and I've got some plug ins for AE called "particle" something or other, but I don't think I've heard of that one. So, yes send me info.

Actually, Alan, the simpler of the two is CC Star Burst and it just gives you a background of moving through stars (controling the color of the stars with the color of the solid to which it's applied). See if you have that.

You can also check and see if you have CC particle world and if you'd rather use that then let me know.
I never did master the art of posting pictures here, but with some help I could probably do that. It's complex but neat (CC Particle World).

Thanks John, I'm going to see if I have them, although I don't think I do. If I don't, where could I get it?
By the way, maybe you've never mastered the art of puting pictures on here, but thats farther than I've ever got. I haven't figured it out period!

Alan,

Why don't you look into updating to AE CS3 Pro, but I'm sure those things are there (I'll check with my new CS3 to see if the're there.)
John
Ann
No need to upgrade, AE 6.5 and 7 have CC particle world but you need to install them first from the AE cd.
JohnR
Ann,
As I mentioned, it is in 6.5. I think he said before in some other post that he has 5.5 and that's why I suggested upgrading to the most recent version.
