Hello.
I'm trying to experiment with making music videos. There are many music videos out there that have the effect I'm trying to achieve. Let me try to be as detailed as possible: In a music video, everything around them is just all in slow motion. Everything except the singer or the band. When the music comes up, while in slow motion, they're in perfect sync with the lyrics with the slow motion. It's such a cool effect that I want to achieve. I saw the making of greenday's american editor music video. I saw them playing the song super fast with them moving fast while filming. example: http://youtube.com/watch?v=M5mjN32G1iI That effect is so cool. It's probably a very painful process to achieve, but I serious want to get it done. Thank you! |

You can achieve a super-fast or super-slow look in sync by filming the video with the track running either super-fast OR super-slow with the performers matching lip-sync and rhythm... and then do a corresponding speed-up or slow down in post.
So Green Day was filmed with their song running at like 25% speed, they matched the slow beat and words, along with enough fast antics to "sell" the effect, and then sped it up to like 400% in post with a normal-speed track. You could do the reverse, and film your performers syncing a song played back at Chipmunks-fast speed, and when you slow it back down in post it will look like everything's happening in slow motion, except the music. I think it was Coldplay that even did one "backwards", which meant that the Coldplay dude had to learn how to lip-sync his song in reverse so they could flip the entire video it in post. It's a pretty cool look, with cars driving backwards, etc. And, these effects aren't too hard to achieve, even on a "garage band" budget. HTH, Brian Brown BrownCow Productions |

Thanks for your post.
Are there any programs I can use to speed up the songs? Thanks. |

An NLE like Premiere Pro can do it. A more specialized app. like Audition would do it with more precise controls (pitch, etc.) and arguably better algorithms.
